Dave
Bohach's "Hi Skool T"
I teach
at Banting Memorial in Alliston. I
started
the
car in Richmond Hill at Alexander
Mackenzie High School. I am a Manufacturing
teacher (machine shop/welding). I brought
the car to Banting as a rolling chassis.
Frame was
built with 1 1/2" x 3" rectangular
tubing with an 8" kickup. Rear end
from a chevy Blazer with 3.42's, front
axle from a 57 GMC 1/2 ton, all sprung
with '63 Corvair springs and shocks. The
car rolls on Dunlop radials, 215/60-R15
up front and 295/50-R15's out back all
mounted on Cragar wheels. Powered by a
350 ci from a '79 Monte Carlo which was
in a '79 Caprice derby car we built and
wrecked.
The mill
has an Edelbrock cam and intake fed by
a 600cfm holley, ceramic coated
sprintcar style headers. It changes gears
via a 350 turbo with shift kit and 2500
stall with a Mr. gasket shifter.
Woodshop
students custom made mahogany dash with
a Austin Mini speedo cluster
and generic gauges. Rear deck lid was
made from maple. Steering is through
a Fierfly
column and a '75 Maverick steering
box. Master cylinder is from a '70 Tempest.
Aluminum fuel cell was student welded.
This was
how we manufactured the car over 6 or 7
years. The bucket was featured in the Performance
in Motion magazine August/September. The
kids did a great job!
