Syracuse Nationals
2008 ( July 18 - 20, 2008 )
The Syracuse Nationals is the flag ship show for the Right Coast Association with over 6,500 registered cars and countless spectators over the three day event. There is always a lot to see and do once you arrive at the state fairgrounds. This show has something for everyone like classic show cars, used cars for sale, tech seminars, vendors, food, live music, grandstand shows and to top it all off they give away a car.
We drove down to the show on Thursday to ensure we didn’t miss anything on Friday and took our time cruising on some of the roads north of the I-90. Eventually we stopped for lunch in Batavia and jumped on the I-90 east to Syracuse. We arrived at a jammed packed host hotel where there were plenty of classic cars and spectators in the parking lot. We worked our way into the hotel and quickly registered our vehicles for the show. With our registration package, in hand we set off to our own hotel and get ready for the weekend at hand.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn, Carrier Circle in East Syracuse. This hotel and surrounding area plays host to many Canadians that come down to the show. Right outside our hotel room was a group a cars that I cruised with on the 401 for about 10min. They parked themselves outside with their cars for some good hardy conversation during the evening.
The show was once again HUGE with countless numbers of cars and spectators all weekend. We parked our cars on the high ground just in case it rained (It always rains on one of the days). Once we were setup we spent the rest of our time checking out the cars and the specialty areas that were setup on the grounds. Two of our favorite areas at the show were “Artie’s Party” where the best pin-stripers in the world created works of art that were auctioned off for charity and the “Old School Round Up” that saw a large collection of rat rods parked in from of a stage where live rockabilly music was being played.
If you have never been to this show it is defiantly worth the trip. For more information about this show please visit the Right Coast web site.
Here are a few pictures from the show. Keep in mind this only represent a small sample of the 3 day show. Enjoy.
